The Face Behind

The Bookwyrm Edit

Hi, I’m Maryann Alexis! A lifelong book lover, romantasy enthusiast, and freelance editor who believes every story deserves genuine care and appreciation. I thrive on helping authors make the worlds in their minds come alive on the page.

I’ve always been the person with a book in hand, lost in another world. Reading has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I love character growth, dragons, magic, vampires, and the stories that make you stay up way too late because you just have to know what happens next, and you feel personally invested in every character.

My love of reading organically led me to the world of editing. I realized that helping authors strengthen their stories was the perfect way to combine what I love most: reading amazing books and helping bring them to life in the best and most polished way.

As a freelance editor, I have experience editing multiple romance novellas and working with authors to refine manuscripts while preserving their unique voice and tone. My goal is never to change an author’s story into something else, it is to help that story become the best and most magical version of itself.

I especially love working with fantasy, romance, and romantasy authors because those genres are full of the things I enjoy the most, immersive worlds, complex characters, emotional journeys, and stories that leave me emotionally and mentally altered for long after I read that last line.

When I’m not editing, you can usually find me reading, spending time with my family, or playing video games like It Takes Two and Split Fiction. I’m a proud mom of two littles, I am super nerdy (in the best way), a tattoo lover, and someone who will happily talk about books for far longer than most, especially if dragons or morally gray characters are involved.

At The Bookwyrm Edit, my mission is simple, I want to provide thoughtful, supportive editing that helps authors share their stories with confidence while keeping the magic and tone uniquely and beautifully theirs.
